This is a medium sized oil painting on wood. I wanted to go for a 3D effect to emphasize the height of the rock formation known as, "Spider Rock," in Canyon De Chelly. It is a little less than an inch thick, varnished and does not require a frame.
Hello. Here is a little bit about me. I grew up in Colorado in the Four Corners area. I have always loved to draw since I was a child. It wasn't until 2015 that I decided to try painting. I took a class with Edward Aldrich an excellent wildlife artist who specializes in painting with oil. After that I couldn't stop painting and have enjoyed it immensely for the past 3 years. I started painting things I saw in the nearby area. It was a little of everything, old cars, farms, cows and horses. Soon after, I tried painting landscapes. Unfortunately, I realized how many people were painting landscapes. I really wanted to stand out and be different and to do that I decided to paint nighttime scenes.
